Hertz Used Cars

Post by Adblue » Sat Mar 28, 2020 5:15 am

Actually I think about to buy a car at Hertz Car Sales. Has any one already bought a used car from Hertz? I`m not sure whether Hertz is the best address for buying a used car?

The most important question is whether it makes sense to buy a used car which was used as a rental car before? Wear and tear at a rental car is for sure much bigger than at any other car. This is therefore not a question which is valid for Hertz cars only. It is valid for rental cars in general. My opinion is simply not to buy any rental car as a used car.

I agree with @Cooper the wear and tear at a rental car is much higher than at a car which is normally used every day. I would not buy such a car.

Honestly speaking I don`t see any problem buying an ex-rental car. Usually they are very new and a technical check easily can clarify whether there are any technical issues at such a car. However I would expect a lower price level compared to any other used car.

It makes sense to have a look at the offers of Hertz Car Sales. They offer a wide range of nice cars in most classes. I suppose that with some negotiation always an agreement on sales prices can be found. Usually these cars are all well equipped.

At Hertz car sales they advertise with "No Haggle Price" and "The Price Is the Price". They don`t want to negotiate the price as they feel that it is already low.  For me rdicules and an argument to never buy there any car. The argument that everyone deserves the same "great" no haggle price sounds ridcules. My opinion only !

Very arrogant behaviour of Hertz Car Sales. Why not negotiating when buying an expensive used car? :(

For me an absolute nogo. If I cannot negotiate the price when I want to buy a car then I go to another car dealer. Buying somthing expensive like a car the negotiation of the price is part of the deal.

If the price is reasonable I must not negotiate. I don`t see that as a matter of principle. In general I would buy an ex- rental car if the price fits with my expectations.

As far as I know Hertz car sales actually is more flexible in terms of price negotiation. In today`s time of Covid they have to generate cash. In order to reach this objective they obviously try to downsize their fleet as response for the tremendeous drop off in demand for rental cars.
