I`ll try to book the BMW 7 series with the option this Exact Model. Rental rate is ok for me. The disadvantage is that in the rate are 150 miles included only. This makes the rental more expensive when I have to buy a package of additional miles.
This happens fequently when you select this type of high value car. The rental rate usually doesn`t include unlimited miles. You must look whether you can buy an additional mileage package or whether you must pay for each additional mile individually. ;)

Clear, these categories are the cash cows. Car rental companies would be stupid to offer unlimited miles for very expensive cars. Customers are fully prepared to pay miles as an extra. ;)

each car rental company does the same. Especially for exotic or luxury cars you must book additional miles as an extra.

In other countries pay by miles is standard but not in US. Due to the long distances in US it would not make any sense. Ok, for the expensive exotic and luxury cars payment of exceeding miles makes somehow sense.

Not yet, but I noticed Hertz are no longer applying "reserve this exact model" for Mustang GT or the other muscle cars. Obviously these cars are all just lumped into a generic "American Muscle" group and you get what you get.
By experience 2 out of 2 attempts by me last year to specifically rent a Mustang GT from Hertz all ended in failure when I arrived to collect the car. :(

A phone call with the station before the pickup of the rental car helps a lot in order you wish to get a Mustang GT. It doesn`t cost a lot and helps to get such a nice muscle car as "this exact model". And this despite the fact being part of the "American Muscle Group".

When I rent for pleasure I focus on a specific model. Then it`s very heplful when a get an exact model guaranteed. I would appreciate if other carrental companies would offer guaranteed models also for the lower categegories. I would even accept a moderate markup on the rental rate for an exact model guarantee. :D
