Cadillac XT5 Rental Experience

Post by Ricksrentalreview » Mon Sep 14, 2020 9:14 pm

A 2020 Cadillac XT5 400. First thing I want to know is what does the 400 stand for? It’s not cubic inches, it has a 3.8l V6. It’s not horsepower. Maybe it’s miles to empty on a full tank of gas? Maybe the number of ping pong balls that will fill the interior?
This is a nice ride. A luxury cruiser for sure. There is lane departure, blind spot notification, don’t get to close to the car ahead of you, paddle shifters you feel but can’t see, and a mode selector. It has tour, which is 2wd, there is sport, which changes to AWD and changes shift points and steering feel. There is the AWD drive mode, I can only guess what that does. And there is off-road mode. In a Cadillac? Yeah, if you live on a gravel driveway, you might want to use this. I can’t imagine anyone who buy one of these to take it out to the dunes for some Baja action.
There is remote start, heated seats, heated steering wheel and leather everywhere. The controls were easy to learn and made it easy to get familiar with. If you are wanting to be styling at the country club, this is the one. I will give this a one flat tire as this would make a good old man or grandpa SUV to have. I seem to be getting closer to that demographic. Maybe next I will change my mind and consider my rating, if I remember.

Very interesting report about a beautiful car. Thanks @Ricksrentalreview :!: You`ve rented the Cadillac XT5 from which rental company?

I think the 400 stands simply for marketing reasons.
For me the XT5 is always a very comfortable car which I`ve also rented twice. Honestly speaking the offroad mode you`ve not yet used. Have you any experience with this mode @Ricksrentalreview ?

Most of the time things like the 400 don`t have any meaning. Formerly it was different. You could recognize the cubic inches etc. This times seem to be over.

Seriously, there is nobody who will use an off-road mode in a Cadillac. None of my friends did ever. With this car you will always safely reach your destination without the off-road mode.
