Alamo Insiders Benefits

Post by Jimmy » Sat Aug 15, 2020 4:40 am

Alamo offers a free of charge enrollment for a Alamo Insider status. Obviously this opens the possibility to get everyday low rental rates. Is it worthwile to become an Alamo Insider? Someone has already experience of being a member of this status program from Alamo? Would be very interested to get more information.

The Alamo Insiders program is not a status program which is typical for car rental companies. There are no status tiers offered. You can`t not earn points for your rentals which provide you free upgrades or free rentals. As Alamo Insider you always get a 5% discount of your rentals from Alamo. Although there is no possibility to earn some points based on the Alamo Insider program it opens the option for some savings by earning points based on used credit cards for the payment of your Alamo rentals. In case you don`t already use a credit card which offers bonus points for each of your rentals you must look for many existing great options.

I would like to add one thought: for me the points are not so important when using a credit card for a rental car. More important is a card which has excellent and well performing rental insurance coverage included. This aspect shouldn`t be forgotten, guys.

You know that after the free of charge enrollment you´ll get 5% discount off all the time. For me a good reason to become an Alamo Insider. Even there are not too much other benefits as far as I know. ;)

I`m already registered. For each booking you have to login and the discount will be applied automatically.

What you simply have to do is @Jimmy to sign up for an account. Then you become an Alamo Insider. When you have filled in online in the enrollment form you`ll get a member number. Then you can book in future with your login and you`ll get the 5 % discount.

There are lots of cads existing which provide you with points from Alamo for each rental. Examples are Chase Card, CitiBusiness or Ink Business, etc.

Will book the Midsize SUV from Alamo for 5 days in September. In order to get another 5 % off I`ll register for Alamo Insider now. Rental location will be Pittsburgh International Airport. Is there anything which I have to take into account for further savings? Thanks!

What you can do is to choose the paynow option. However you must be sure that you can keep your pickup date. Otherwise you have to pay a cancellation fee. Of course lots of option can be bought fro Alamo. Examples are insurance and vehicle protections, or some additional equipment like navigation device or toll waiver.
But keep in mind that any extra costs a lot of money. If you have a credit card with rental car insurances included then you can save as well. If not I suggest you buy such an expensive insurance from Alamo which protects you for liabilities. ;)
