Correct. For one way rentals Alamo doesn't offer the drive happy deal.

On the other side for a one way rental the Drive Happy deal would be not less interesting compared to a two way rental. I don`t see any difference. I want to book on a low rental rate basis and I want to get a nice car. :D

Alamo offers the Drive Happy Deal at Honolulu for a favourable rate of around $30 per day in August. I`m surprised about that.

Great. I`d buy it. But actually I`ve not planned a holiday at Hawaii. But jus a thought, I always wonder what Alamo means with "Compact or Larger (or similar)". What does Amalamo mean with similar when I book the Drive Happy Deal? I expect then besides the Compact class something larger ? Is this correct?

Clear, you can expect for "similar" always something larger than Compact class. This guarantee is part of the rules for the Drive Happy Deal from Alamo. If they offer a smaller car I wouldn`t accept and tell them what is written in the conditions for this rental category. ;)

Based on my experience Alamo is somewhere in the middle range of rental prices compared to the others. About what I`m not so happy with is the Alamo reward program. It`s not so strong as the ones of other car rental companies. If you rent frequently from Alamo it`s not the optimum option for earning points and related benefits.

I like the principle very much. Most of the time Alamo offers this category most of the times at the lowest rental rate. As already known the cars you`ll get are guaranteed minimum a compact car or larger. It`s finally Alamo which chooses you category depending on availability. But you as the customer can then choose the car out of the category defiend by Alamo. With a little portion of luck you `ll get surely a pretty nice car. This is my experience.

When you book the Drive Happy Deal from Alamo you usually get one of the cars which is in excess in the parking lots. It depend besides others from the time you want to pick up the rental car. During daytime mostly they have midsize or compact class available. Afterwards, when these two categories are run out they`ll offer you fullsize cars. During the night my experience is that Alamo has more minivans and pick-ups available. So it depends what you are looking for. Generally the selection for the Drive Happy Deal is good.

:D

Thanks for the comprehensive summary and info. I think at the next opportunity I`ll going to book this category from Alamo.
