When I rent a car from Hertz, do I have any advantage when paying with my American Express Card? Or can I use any other credit card?

You can use more or less any credit card at Hertz. When you have an American Express card then the optimum is of course the Platinum Cardmembership. Based on a Hertz Gold Plus Rewards membership you will receive exclusive benefits as a Platinum Cardmember. Basic requirement for all benefits is the enrolment in the Hertz Gold Plus loyalty programme.

To be more precise the benefits are the following.

* you get up to 15% discount off standard rates
* also up to 25% off Prestige Collection vehicles
* one car class upgrade FOC
* guaranteed vehicle availability
* up to a 4-hour grace period when returning the vehicle
* complimentary one way rentals
* courtesy pick-up of the vehicle

This is a very important and helpful benefit to get granted up to a 4 hour grace period for delayed returnal of the rented vehicle.

For me the service to get at each booking an upgrade of one car class is a very worthy benefit which I really always appreciate.

At other car rental companies you must have a high status level when you want to get an upgrade by one car class fre of charge.

The benefits are really great. But I think that the Platinum Card memberschip at American Express is not the cheapest one. Someone any idea about the price?
