I expect these measures actually from all rental companies. It's an absolute must. And it doesn't cost too much.

Actually Avis release the information that not even the window must be opened upon exit. The driver`s license must be hold up to the window only. The agent has to verify all your information from outside.
The Avis employees must focus on cleaning and disinfecting common touch points in and out of the car using products that can be used against SARS-CoV-2 which is the cause of COVID-19.
These touchpoints include the steering area that includes wheel, steering column controls and driver console area. Also the center area must be properly cleaned that consists of console, cup holder, touch screen, radio controls, climate controls, rear view mirror. Besides these zones all air conditioning exhaust vents and glove box, all door handles, lock/unlock controls, window controls and door jambs, the seats, seat adjustment controls, handles and headrests, the rear center console, cup holder and climate control area, the rear armrest, cup holder and fold down area, the seat belts, buckle and clips and finally the exterior door handles, trunk handle and fuel door must be cleaned also.
This sounds pretty good! :D

I`ve checked it out for a mystery car rental at the DTW. But Avis didn`t provide any offer. Strange from my point of view.

I`ve never booked the Mystery Car from Avis. Usually I select the Full Size. Rental rates for this category are moderate and I get very acceptable cars. I`ve got the Ford Fusion or also cars out of the Intermediate SUV category which resulted in a Ford Escape. I`ve therefore never missed the Mystery Car.

You can get all these categories also with a Mystery Car booking from Avis. But much cheaper. ;)

This is due to fleet reduction at Avis. For the Mystery Car the overflow is usually used. There is actually not too much overflow existing. After Covid-19 the mystery Cars will come back at Avis. ;)

I just made a reservation for a mystery car - Pickup at Oakland International Airport, drop off at San Jose International Airport. For drop off location same as pick up location, the mystery car was not offered.

Welcome in the forum @artsyflipsy :!:

Would appreciate to read a short report about your rental. A pic of your rental car would be great.
Which class did you book?
