I plan a 2 week road trip very soon. I`m renting a car one way from the west Coast to Texas and then I`ll fly back. I reserved a small size SUV at the local Sixt location. Since we are 3 people the vehicle of this size should be sufficient. In case they don`t have a SUV available when we show up what is the procedure?
Would they search a small SUV at another location and let us pick up from a different station or do they bring the car to the location as planned?
Can we possibly change the vehicle along the way?

I wouldn`t worry worry about the availability. Based on my experience Sixt usually will make the booked category available. In case thy won`t have a small SUV I would ask for the next higher category foc.

A few years ago I got a smaller car than I had reserved. It was a one way rental. I stopped at one of the next stations and exchanged it. It was very easy.
