Sixt LCAR

Someone already made experience with Sixt LCAR here in US? For me this is a very interesting vehicle category with absolutely nice cars like the BMW 3 series or the Mercedes C-Class. In Germany which is the country of origin of Sixt these premium sedans are in category FDAR or FDMR which are lower and therefore cheaper categories.

Don`t forget the Cadillac CTS which is also part of LCAR at Sixt. ;)

One of my experinces is that in LCAR in the rental rate is CDW/LDW as a combination already included. The own finacial liability is reduced already to $0. This a big difference to the FDAR or FDMR at Sixt Germany. the rental rate is there of course somehow lower but the insurances in terms of CDW and LDW must be paid separately. Also the financial responsibilty of the renter is usually 950 Euro and not zero as we are used to have it here in US.

Another difference here in US is of course that Sixt includes unlimited miles in the rental rate not only in LCAR but also in other categories. The unly exception from this rule might be the Sixt Luxury car fleet.

Btw i.e. Hertz does not offer these insurances (LDW/CDW) as an included extra in the rental rate. The appropriate insurance must be paid separately at Hertz. :(

The insurances are always a business case at car rental companies. And the guys at the counter try often to sell these extras as they get paid a commission. Especially when you book a cheap holiday rental somewhere in the world you have to pay attention that the car rental personel does not sell you another second insurance which is probably already included in the rental fee. They try it usually with all means and words.

LCAR is an interesting and attractive vehicle category at Sixt. Especially since they have the new BMW 3-series generation available. ;)

I wonder why Sixt uses different categories for the Mercedes C-Class in US and in Germany. Normally the ACRISS Code is used to be the common basis to categorize cars.

A good question. The fact that in US the CDW and the LDW are included in the rental rate cannot be a reason as the insurances are not reflected in the ACRISS-Code. So honestly speaking it is really strange.

The categories have nothing to do with Insurances included in the rental rate. I think that Sixt wants to get higher rates for the Mercedes C-Class by putting them in LDAR instead of FDAR.
