Turo Experience

Post by Lambocar » Tue May 26, 2020 5:15 am

Some time ago I have made first experience with Turo. For me it was the absolutely worst car rental experience ever had. When I compare the usage of a regular car rental company I have learned now that the rental from Turo requires lots of experience in order to avoid lots of hidden traps.

An example is that the car I`ve got should have been more or less "new". What I`ve got was something close to be a nightmare.: dirty strange noise, made me feeling not to be driveable.

My failure was that I`ve taken over this car!
For sure I will never return to Turo again. :( :(
Be careful with Turo, guys! :!: :!:

Welcome in the forum @Lambocar and thanks for this short report abou your experience with Turo. In general the idea is good to offer a car sharing marketplace. But obviously Turo should much better control who offers which car to others. Clear there are always a few show stoppers existing in such a business. But I think it can be avoided by regular unannounced control and probably penalties. My opinion only.

I`ve used Turo once and was quite happy. No reason to complain. The car was ok as promised by the renter. No surprises in pricing or other things. I would book again from Turo when I`ll have a need. :)

What about the host? Do you @Lambocar have more information? How many ratings did they have?

This host had 4.4 stars based on 9 reviews. The number of car he has I`m not aware. :(

I don`t think that the rating is too important as easily can be seen at the experience of @Lambocar. Ratings can be faked. I prefer in general to rent my car from the normal car rental companies. Then I know what I get. :)

You`re doing right @Highway. What do you want to claim from whom when a rented car is privately owned? Think it might become very difficult.

Think that you can claim in the first instance from Turo directly. ;)

Turo is an excellent platform to get and try exactly that model I would like to have. Usually the ratings from customers are excellent support to select the provider of a car. Great and proven opportunity for all who are looking for alternatives to usual car rental companies. :D

It's very interesting to learn here something about Turo. As non US citizen I wasn't yet aware about Turo. If the review system applied reflects reality there is a low risk to get surprised about bad serviced cars or other negative issues. Would appreciate to read more here about Turo. ;)
