Long Term Car Rental
Hello,
I`m new in the forum.
As I never rented cars long term I would like to know what would be the best way to approach it. Which companies or places are preferred or avoided.
Returning to US after having lived a long time abroad I plan to get a long term (6-7 weeks) car rental unit until I find and buy a used car.
If you have any generic tips/advices as well, I am happy to hear them.

There are several options.
Rentals under 30 days are usually treated the same as short rentals as far as I know. If you intend to go over 30 days it`s best practice to start a new contract.
In order to avoid all the airport fees and taxes I suggest to rent at a downtown location wherever. However the selection there is not so good as it is at airport locations.

I know lots of folks rely on Autoslash and start the search there. I personally don`t as Autoslash get`s too much comission which finally I must pay. Therefore I suggest to look on the websites of Sixt, Budget, Avis or Alamo. Especially I know that Sixt has an ongoing deal for long term rentals. I`m not prepared to provide Autoslash only for a quote as a very first step my name and other data.
My opinion only.

Fully agree. I just checked out appropriate offers from Enterprise. For a comparable class at Enterprise the rental rate is $1,591.69 per month. This is more than the double price compared to Sixt.

For long-term rental Sixt is one of the best. I experienced it already for a 3 month rental. I`ve got a Mercedes Benz C-Class which was great. Rental rate was absolutely reasonable.
