Loss Damage Waiver
As I am a beginner as far as car rentals are concerned, can someone explain the Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) of which I have already heard about?

Some information in terms of the LDW as requested:
The Loss Damage Waiver is not an insurance and not mandatory. It cost an additional daily rate. And for this additional fee the car rental company assumes responsibility for the loss of or damage to the car except for the amount of responsibilty if any specified on the rental contract. In any case however the car must be operated in accordance with the said contract.
