Sixt GFAR - what cars are people actually getting lately?

Post by Brand » Sat Jun 13, 2026 6:59 am

Hi everyone,

I’m looking at booking a Sixt GFAR category and was wondering what vehicles are typically assigned to this class.

For anyone who has rented GFAR with Sixt in the last few months: what car did you actually receive, and at which location?

Finally, do you have any tips for increasing the chances of getting a preferred vehicle within the category? For example, does it help to arrive at a certain time, ask at the counter, use the app, or contact the branch in advance?

Thanks in advance for any recent data points and advice!

Yeah, unfortunately Sixt, like pretty much every other rental company, doesn’t guarantee a specific make or model.

That said, the only vehicle I’m currently seeing listed in that category is the BMW X5. I added a note in the comments field saying it would be great if one was available, and it actually worked out for me. This was at Miami Airport.

I’ve also gotten the BMW X5 before, and it was fully loaded. It’s honestly an awesome car to drive. Plenty of power under the hood and it really moves when you step on it. Highly recommend it!

I’d definitely just add a note to the reservation. You can do that during the last step of the booking process. Just put in your preferred vehicle there.

Of course, there’s always a chance they won’t have a BMW available. But sometimes, for a little extra cash at the counter, you can move up a category or get into another really cool car
